Genuine evil

With all that has been said about Obama's health care reform attempts, the most important point has been overlooked.

The proposals do not go into effect for another four years.

If democrats believed that this bill would help people, they would implement it now and buy votes.  If they know that it hurts people, then they would want to wait until after Obama's re-election attempt; this is exactly what they have done.

It is difficult for freedom loving and freedom-thinking people to understand that there are Americans who would hurt others in order to gain control over them.  There can be no doubt that "health-care reform" is despotic and evil.

Despots support despotism...duh!

Despots support despotism...duh!

When Obama says one thing and does another, is this because he holds popular, intellectually defensible positions?

When Obama increases government control at the expense of everyone else, does he support freedom?

Why is everyone so surprised with his weak response to oppression in Iran?  Despots support despotism!

The Pickup Artist

The Pickup Artist
by Kirk Ullom

The ideology of the pickup artist is simple:  don't change her mind, change her mood.  You cannot "logic" a woman into your bed.

However, this logic applies to both men and women.  We all make decisions based on how those things make us feel.  Although this effect is particularly acute in matters of the heart, it applies to many of the decisions that we make.  My choice of music or movies is based almost entirely on how those things make me feel.  All one has to do is watch a few commercials to see that many marketers seek to trigger certain emotions rather than intellectually defend why someone should choose their product over a competitor.

This is why I find it so silly when Republicans or conservatives form rational, intellectually honest arguments against the policies of the left.  Of course the policies of conservatism work.  Of course the policies of the left fail (unless your goal is control).  Pointing these things out misses the point.  This is no different than trying to use "logic" to seduce a woman.

But there is something that can be quite dangerous when conservatives argue against the left.  A pickup artist is extremely concerned with the "frame" of the dialogue; the frame is simply the context of the conversation and implies certain underlying assumptions.  A pickup artist may say "I am trying to decide whether or not i should let you kiss me."  This implies that a kiss is his decision and she must earn the right to be kissed.  If her response is anything other than "I will never kiss you", then she accepts the frame.

The left is exceptional when it comes to framing the debate.  When we accept the frame, we lose.  The left truly exists in bizaro world.  Everything they claim is 180 degrees out of phase with reality.  If you want to change their mind, change how they feel about their choices.  Don't say "I have a better policy."  Say "why do you want to screw me?"
